Education is under the jurisdiction of the Kelsey School Division, which serves both Town of The Pas and the Rural Municipality of Kelsey. The Kelsey School Division also contracts with the Opaskwayak Cree Nation and other northern Bands to educate treaty students who do not attend the Band schools.

Major educational facilities in town include two elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The Marigold Centre also operates within the School Division as a special learning center for children with special needs and as a day care center for preschool children.

The Kelsey School Division offers a range of complementary courses in addition to the required provincial curricula. At the Early Years and Middle Years there are courses in French immersion, swimming, family life, and a child abuse prevention program. Special learning needs are met through various means, including qualified professional staff, teacher assistant support, modern facilities and special equipment.

At the Senior Years level, students can choose mandatory courses from the English and the Technology Education diploma programs, and from a range of complementary courses including computer based and technology based options. Art, band and drama courses are also available. Some vocational programming is provided in cooperation with the University College of the North, formerly Keewatin Community College. The Kelsey Learning Centre addresses the flexible needs of older students who wish to complete a high school diploma.

The Kelsey School Division offers modern and well equipped facilities and quality educational service that equal to or surpass those of many other large centers. To keep abreast of the burgeoning information technology and further diversify students' knowledge base, a number of courses have been developed to introduce computer-assisted learning, computer skills training, internet use, and software applications. In addition, there are various programs initiated at the middle schools and high school which feature excellent shop facilities and modern training equipment.

The community of The Pas is very supportive of its educational system and is well involved in the decision making process that usually exerts significant impact on the quality of the education for their children.
